Refurbishing a 1923 Building back to its glory.

In February 1923 the old Pacific Electric depot, on the northeast corner of Brand Boulevard and Broadway, was demolished.  Shortly thereafter, Security Trust and Savings Bank, having acquired the corner site, began construction on Glendale's first six-story building, completing it in 1924.  The picture was taken in 1924.  Courtesy of the Special Collections Room, Glendale Public Library.

The Pacific Electric Depot, at the southeast corner of Broadway and Brand Boulevard, shown here in 1909, was built for $5,000 in 1906.  The property was sold to the Security Trust and Savings Bank (note above) in 1923, to be used for an office building.
